Three Ventura County Sheriff's Deputies Injured Making Arrest

Three Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies are recovering from injuries they received trying to take a man acting erratically into custody. It happened just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, on the 2500 block of East Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

Deputies responding to a call of a man behaving erratically near Conejo Elementary School say they found Valentin Gandarilla talking to himself, and throwing his hands up in the air. When they tried to talk to him, they say he started to run.

As deputies caught up with the 37 year old man, they say he attacked and injured the three of them. He was arrested on three counts of resisting arrest, and three counts of battery on a peace officer.

The three officers were taken to a hospital where they were treated and released
