Brush fire briefly closed Highway 118 between Los Angeles and Ventura Counties Sunday night

Fire investigators are trying to pinpoint the cause of a brush fire near the Ventura-Los Angeles County line which at one point closed Highway 118.

The fire was discovered at about five Sunday night, on West Susana Pass Road in the Chatsworth area. The fire was in Los Angeles County, but because it was near the border with Ventura County, LA County and LA City firefighters responded. Aircraft were called in to help.

Firefighters had the upper hand on the blaze by seven, and had it fully contained before nine p.m. No structures were damaged. Highway 118 was reopened by about seven p.m.
