Authorities search for missing boaters on Colorado River

The search continues on the Colorado River for three people, including two South Coast women believed to be among the missing from a holiday weekend boating accident.

Two boats traveling in opposite directions near the California-Nevada border north of Lake Havasu collided head on Saturday night. The 16 people on board the boats were thrown into the river. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office officials say none of the 16 victims were wearing life preservers.

12 people were rescued after the crash. The bodies of one of the victims, a woman from California’s Central Valley, was recovered Sunday. A man and two women are still missing. Authorities haven’t identified the two young women, but numerous social media accounts say they are from Ventura County.
