Former Ventura County Supervisor Dies

A longtime Ventura County Supervisor has died.

Judy Mikels was known for her dedication to public service, starting her political career as a Simi Valley Planning Commissioner and a Simi Valley City Councilwoman. Mikels was elected to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors in 1994, serving three terms on the board.

In 2006, she lost her bid for a fourth term for the seat representing eastern Ventura County to Peter Foy. After leaving office, she moved to Tucson, Arizona. She died following a long battle with a lung disorder. Mikels was 73 years old.
