Marijuana Growing Facility On South Coast Hit By Robbers; Two Arrested

Authorities say two people are in custody after they attempted to rob a marijuana growing facility in Santa Barbara County, pepper spraying an employee in the process.

It started at about 6:30 Wednesday morning, on the 1500 block of Casitas Pass Road in Carpinteria.

Employees say a group of people broke into the facility, and pepper sprayed an employee before fleeing.  Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers spotted the vehicle, which was a rental van, headed south on Highway 101 in Ventura.

The van got off on Victoria Avenue, and officers stopped the vehicle, arresting the two people inside.  Detectives say it’s possible there are more suspects still at large.

At this point, they aren’t releasing any other details about the case, which has become the agency’s practice related to the marijuana facilities.
