Santa Barbara's Fiesta Means Fun, and Lots Of Food

Santa Barbara's De La Guerra Plaza is home of one of Fiesta's "Mercados," or marketplaces which serves up all kinds of food.

It’s been a tough few months for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties in the wake of the Thomas Fire, the Montecito debris flow, and most recently the Holiday brush fire north of Goleta. But, people in the region are getting a welcome distraction from the difficult times this week. The Ventura County Fair and Santa Barbara Barbara’s Old Spanish Days both kicked off Wednesday.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco takes a look at one of the most popular parts of Fiesta. It’s the Fiesta food.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
