Ventura County Ag Industry Revenues Show Slight Dip In 2017; Strawberries Remain Top Crop

Ventura County’s agricultural industry remained strong in 2017, but showed a slight dip in overall value. The industry generated nearly $2.1 billion dollars in revenue last year. That’s down four tenths of a percent from 2016.

Strawberries remained the county’s top crop, hitting the $654 million dollar mark. Lemons were second again, with celery moving into the third spot.

The Thomas Fire caused $170 million dollars in losses to the ag industry in the county, with the avocado, citrus, and cattle industries being hit the hardest.
