Number Of Homes Destroyed By Santa Barbara County's Holiday Brush Fire Revised Downwards

Some of the destruction caused by the Holiday Fire in the hills north of Goleta

There’s some new information about the extent of damage caused by Santa Barbara County’s destructive Holiday brush fire. County firefighters say they’ve completed a secondary assessment of the fire zone north of Goleta. The good news is the number of homes destroyed has actually been revised downwards, from 13 to ten, with three damaged.

The number of destroyed barns and outbuildings went from 15 to 14. The amount of land burned was a little larger than firefighters first thought. They had been reporting it was 100 acres, but the revised number is 113.

The fire started July 6th, causing most of its damage in its first six hours. It was fully contained on Tuesday. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
