Two TB Cases Discovered In Ventura County

The Ventura County Public Health Department is investigating two recently discovered cases of tuberculosis in the county.

Health officials say a member of 24 Hour Fitness at Riverpark in Oxnard was diagnosed with TB. They are working to identify people who may have been at the gym at the same time as the infected person between March and early this month. Experts say there is currently no danger of becoming infected by visiting the fitness center.

Meanwhile, health officials are also investigating a TB case at Oxnard’s Rio Vista Middle School. They’ve been talking with students, staff and faculty who may have been exposed. A community meeting on the concern has been set for 7 p.m. Monday at the school.

TB is treatable, and curable.
