Arrest Made In South Coast Murder; Detectives Say Killing Was Gang Related

Detectives now believe a murder they’ve been investigating on the South Coast is gang related, and they’ve made an arrest in the case.

On April 22nd, Oxnard Police were called to the 2900 block of Ocean Drive by reports of a shooting. They say they found Jose Luis Lopez on the ground with fatal gunshot wounds.

An investigation led detectives to Jorge Ortega of Oxnard. They served some search warrants this week which led to the seizure of evidence in the case.

Ortega was already in police custody on other charges when he was arrested this week for the murder of Lopez.
