Bill By Ventura County Legislator To Decrease Workplace Sexual Harassment Passes State Assembly

The State Assembly passed a bill by a legislator from Ventura County intended to help keep people who sexually harass co-workers out of the workplace.

AB 2770 allows employers who fired a worker because of sexual harassment to release the information to prospective new employers.

Democratic Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin of Thousand Oaks says the legislation is intended to give more protection against serial sexual harassers. Irwin says they can currently go from one job to another because past employers are afraid to speak out about what occurred.

The legislation now goes to the State Senate for consideration.
