Longtime South Coast Superior Court Judge Retires


A longtime Superior Court Judge on the South Coast has retired.

Ventura County Superior Court Judge Brian Back stepped down Monday after more than 20 years on the bench.

Back was a practicing attorney in the region for twenty years before being appointed as a Ventura Municipal Court Judge in 1997. In 1998, he became a Superior Court Judge. He's handled cases over the years ranging from family law to domestic violence.

He's served as the county's Presiding Judge, and as a member of the State Judicial Council.
