Fire destroys warehouse on Central Coast

Investigators are trying to determine what started a huge fire which heavily damaged a warehouse on the Central Coast.

The fire started just after 3:30 Monday afternoon in a building on the 1200 block of West Stowell Road in Santa Maria.

A huge plume of smoke from the 6,000 square foot building was visible for miles. The warehouse was full of wooden pallets and cardboard.

Santa Maria firefighters kept the inferno from spreading to other structures, but it took them hours to knock down the flames. No one was hurt.
