Man Arrested, Victims Freed From Sex Trafficking Operation With Links In Ventura County

Authorities say they’ve broken up a statewide sex trafficking operation with links to Ventura County.

Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives received a tip from law enforcement officers in the Sacramento area that a possible teenage human trafficking victim might be in the Camarillo area.

They found the 14 year old girl along with another teen and a young woman at a Camarillo motel, and determined they were being sexually exploited. Further investigation led to the discovery of two additional victims in other parts of the state.

James Powell was arrested in Manhattan Beach and brought back to Ventura County to face four counts of human trafficking.
