The planned Thursday launch of a cluster of small satellites from the Central Coast has been delayed due to a technical problem.
SpaceX was planning to launch 10 Iridium communication satellites from Vandenberg Air Force. A problem detected with one of the communications satellites bumped the liftoff to Saturday, and SpaceX officials say it’s possible the launch could be pushed into next week.
Iridium is planning to have a network of 75 satellites put into orbit over a series of eight launches. Plans call for the entire network to be in place before the end of this year.
The Falcon 9 rocket booster being used for the planned launch this week is the same one successfully used for the launch of some Iridium satellites last October.
