Man Arrested Following Standoff Outside Of Ventura County Police Station
A South Coast police station was the scene of a standoff with a man armed with a knife, but it ended without anyone being seriously injured.
Just before six a.m. Sunday, some Simi Valley Police staff members saw a man standing near the employee parking lot of their Alamo Street facility. An officer called for backup after noticing the man was holding a knife.
Officers ordered Nestor Garcia-Castro to drop the weapon, but say that he refused. They eventually tried using rubber bullets to capture the 27 year old man. When that didn’t work, they stunned him with a Taser, and took him into custody.
The Simi Valley man was arrested on charges he brandished a weapon, obstructed an officer, and was under the influence of drugs. Police say he was already on probation for drug use.
