Voluntary Evacuation Orders Issued For Some Areas In Ventura County Due To Storm

Ventura County public safety officials have issued voluntary evacuation orders for some parts of the county impacted by the Thomas brush fire.

The voluntary orders include Matilija Canyon, Highway 33's North Fork Area, the Vista Fire Burn Area, and Nye Road in the Casitas Springs area.

The order was released at 10 p.m. Thursday night, after county officials say the weather forecast indicated there is a slight chance of rainfall of a half inch an hour, which could trigger some minor debris flows. Residents are advised to evacuate immediately, and not wait for official orders if they see worsening conditions. The latest timing on the storm indicates it will peak in southern Santa Barbara County from 4 to 8 a.m., and Ventura County from six to ten a.m.
