Traffic Collision Kills One Woman, Severely Injures Two In Ventura County

Authorities are investigating a crash in Ventura County that killed one woman and severely injured two other women.

The California Highway Patrol says it happened around 5:30 Saturday evening on Highway 101 just north of Padre Juan Canyon near Faria Beach.

Officials say an SUV was traveling northbound when the driver veered to the left towards the center divider and then turned her wheel to the right, crossing all lanes and ending up off the right shoulder and down a hill. The SUV flipped and landed on its roof.

A female passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt died in the accident. The female driver and another female passenger sustained major injuries. No word on whether alcohol or drugs were involved.

The accident led to a portion of the 101 northbound being shut down for a time, backing up traffic.
