Shoppers return to Downtown Ventura, which was shut down for four days by the Thomas Fire

The Thomas Fire has taken a tough human toll.  It's left two people dead, destroyed several hundred homes, and displaced tens of thousands of people, some for weeks.

It’s also hit Ventura and Santa Barbara's economies.  Evacuations, power outages, and smoke impacted hundreds of businesses on the South Coast during what’s supposed to be one of their busiest times of the year.

While a number of businesses in communities like Ventura, Ojai, Santa Paula, Carpinteria, Montecito, and Santa Barbara  have been hurt, they are trying to get the word out that their doors are open again for business.

KCLU's Lance Orozco looks at how one locally owned business was impacted in one of the areas hardest hit by the fire, the City of Ventura.
