So Far, Brush Fire In Los Angeles County Staying Out Of Ventura County

A brush fire in Los Angeles County threatening to move into Ventura County has so far failed to live up to the danger.

The Rye Canyon Fire erupted in Santa Clarita Tuesday morning, shutting down both directions of the 5 Freeway in the area. The freeway reopened Tuesday afternoon.

Simi Valley Police say the concern is that wind could push the 5000 acre blaze into the northern part of Simi Valley. Police alerted people that should the fire move into the city, residents will be ordered to evacuate, and not to try to shelter in place.  But, as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, officials say the blaze failed to make the big push south they had feared.
