Brush Fire Danger Expected To Increase Over Weekend, With Wind And Heat Wave In Forecast

A heat wave, wind, and Red Flag Alerts for increased fire danger are in the forecast for parts of the South Coast this weekend.

We got a break with the weather today, with temperatures 5-10 degrees cooler than on Thursday. But, wind is expected to begin to kick up in the mountains of Southern Santa Barbara County, and Ventura County early Saturday morning. The peak concern for the Santa Ynez Mountains is expected to be from early Saturday morning into early Sunday morning. For Ventura County mountains, the danger created by Santa Ana winds could extend until around Tuesday morning.

Daytime highs will rise through the weekend, with temperatures into the 100’s for the valleys. The heat wave is expected to peak early week before we see cooling.
