Santa Barbara County DA Joins Other Prosecutors In Opposing Loosening Of Gun Silencer Laws

With the Las Vegas rampage shining new light on the issue of gun violence, Santa Barbara County’s District Attorney has joined 28 other prosecutors across the country in announcing opposition to federal legislation which would eliminate safeguards related to gun silencers.

DA Joyce Dudley says the proposed SHARE Act would make it easier for felons, and other with histories of violence to get the devices. Prosecutors say silencers make it more difficult for people to realize they may be under fire, so they can take cover.

They say it also makes it harder for law enforcement officers to locate someone firing a gun.
