The shock over the Las Vegas rampage continues to hit home in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, with word that four more people from our region are among the dead, bringing the local total to five.
Susan Smith of Simi Valley was a popular school staff member who leaves behind a husband, and two adult children.
Family members and friends confirmed the deaths of Denise Cohen of Carpinteria and Derrick “Bo” Taylor of Oxnard. Cohen and Taylor had two sons each.
Relatives also confirmed the deaths of Keri Galvan of Thousand Oaks, and Chris Hazencomb of Camarillo. Galvan was a wife, and mother of three children who worked at a Thousand Oaks restaurant. Hazencomb worked at a Wal-Mart in Camarillo.
Some of the more than 500 who were hurt are also from the South Coast.
