It was an emotional day Wednesday in a Southern California courtroom, as a man who admitted killing his five year old son, and dumping his body in Santa Barbara County was sentenced.

Aramazd Andressian Sr. was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the killing. The boy’s mother, Aramazd Andressian Jr. told her former husband during the sentencing hearing that she pitied him, saying he was a failure as a father, as a man, and as a human being.

Prosecutors say Andressian murdered his son because of a bitter divorce which was underway. The boy was last seen alive April 21st, when the father took his son to Disneyland.

He failed to return the boy from court-mandated visitation, triggered a two month long search in Southern California for the five year old. Andressian eventually confessed, telling investigators where they could find the boy’s body, which was at Lake Cachuma.
