An Oxnard Police officer and another driver were both injured in an early morning traffic accident Saturday

A police officer responding to an emergency call was hurt after being involved in a traffic accident on the South Coast.

It happened just after 12 a.m. Saturday, at Oxnard Boulevard and Ash Street in Oxnard. The police SUV was southbound on Oxnard Boulevard.

Oxnard Police investigators say a car failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, leading to the collision. The police officer was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was seriously injured, but is reported to be in stable condition at a hospital.
