A Santa Barbara based environmental group is among a half dozen non-profits suing the state, claiming that two agencies have failed to adequately enforce clean water regulations.
Santa Barbara Channelkeeper is among the organizations involved in the suit against the State Water Resources Board, and the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board.
The suit claims the agencies aren’t acting on rules intended to limit pollution from excess fertilizer, pesticides, and manure being washed into waterways and ultimately the ocean. Some environmental groups have taken this issue to court before, but say this new suit is prompted by a lack of progress to deal with it.
