Governor Signs Bill By Ventura County Legislator To Help Get Foster Youth To Polls

The governor has signed into law a bill by a state senator from Ventura and Los Angeles counties intended to help foster youth become voters.

SB 332 adds voter registration information to existing forms used by those in the state’s foster system. Democratic State Senator Henry Stern of Canoga Park authored the legislation. Stern says many foster youths may not have an adult in their lives to help get them registered as they become of age to vote.

He says it’s important to get them civically engaged in society. Stern represents parts of eastern Ventura County, as well as western Los Angeles County.
