Search On For Driver Of Car In Fatal Hit And Run Crash In Ventura County

CHP officers are looking for the driver of a car in connection with a traffic collision which fatally injured a Ventura County theater director.

Investigators say on July 6th Patrick John McVicker was driving northbound on Highway 101 near Victoria Avenue in Ventura when he lost control of his car. The Ventura man hit another northbound car, being driven by John Slade of Ojai. Slade’s car crashed. The 69 year old man was seriously injured, and he died the next morning.

McVicker’s car also crashed, but he fled, leaving his car and an injured passenger at the scene.

Slade was director of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company’s production of Julius Caesar, which opens Friday night at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. The decision was made to open the production as planned, and to dedicate the performances to Slade.
