Did you like math in school?
There’s a shortage of math teachers in America, but a South Coast university is taking on the problem. Cal State Channel Islands has received a nearly $1.2 million dollar grant to trying to help create the next crop of math teachers.
It’s teaming up with Cal State Monterey Bay for the program. Students trying to be teachers can receive up to $10,000 a year for up to two years to help pay for their educations. Then, as a part of the Noyce Mathematics Program, the scholars agree to spend two years teaching in high needs school districts
