Contractor Could Face Four Years Behind Bars For Fatal Accident In Ventura County

An unlicensed contractor could face up to four years behind bars after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter for a Ventura County construction accident which killed a worker.

Antonio De Jesus Mejia died in the September, 2011 collapse of a hole being excavated at a home.

Ventura County prosecutors say Abraham Zafrani was acting as an unlicensed contractor, and that the 57 year old man was ultimately responsive for the hazardous conditions which led to the accident.

The Encino man is scheduled to be sentenced September 1st.
