South Coast College Baseball Team Wins National NCAA Championship

CLU baseball team wins national title

This is a huge week for a college sports program on the South Coast, which is bringing home a national title.

California Lutheran University’s men’s baseball team has won the first World Series in the college’s history, taking the Division III NCAA title. The Kingsmen defeated Washington & Jefferson 7-3 Tuesday in Appleton, Wisconsin to win the championship.

CLU’s men’s team made it to the finals twice before, in 1992 and 1996, but ended up as a runner-up both times. The Thousand Oaks squad lost the first game of the three game championship series, but then won the final two games to take the title.

The team finished the season with a 40 win, 11 loss record.
