Funeral services have been set for this weekend for a father and son who died in an apartment fire in Ventura County.
Mario Rangel and his son Diego died last Friday morning when a fire swept through their Port Hueneme apartment. The 24 year old man was able to get his wife, and young daughter safely out of the burning unit, but he died after going back inside to try to save his five year old son.
There will be a mass Saturday at 9 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Oxnard, followed by burials at Oxnard’s Santa Clara Cemetery. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
