A lack of funding has limited arts education in many Central and South Coast schools.
But one arts group is doing what it can to help, by offering free opera classes at some schools in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.
Opera Santa Barbara offers what's known as "The Opera Lab" to children. It's a crash course on what opera is all about, with an interactive effort giving kids the chance to help create an on-the-spot mini-opera.
