Actor Alan Thicke Dies; Longtime Santa Barbara County Resident

Actor Alan Thicke, who was a longtime Santa Barbara County resident, has died.

Thicke was best known as the dad in the 1980’s and 90’s sitcom “Growing Pains.” Over the years, he had his own talk show, hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, and guest starred in a number of sitcoms like “How I Met Your Mother” and “Just Shoot Me.”

Thicke was involved in a number of non-profits on the South Coast.

His son, Robin Thicke, is a well known pop music performer. He had a heart attack while playing hockey in Burbank, and later died at a hospital. Thicke was 69 years old.
