Today is “Giving Tuesday,” when people are encouraged to support non-profits as we open our wallets for the holiday season. A South Coast based which helps people in need around the world, and here in the U.S. with medicine, and medical supplies received a huge endorsement on this day of giving, being named by CNBC as the “Top Charity Changing The World” for 2016.

The television financial network ranked Direct Relief number one in its annual top-10 list. CNBC notes that the Santa Barbara County based agency has provided $3.4 billion dollars in essential aid since the year 2000, including more than $500 million dollars in help in the U.S.

Others on CNBC’s Top 10 list include the Rotary Foundation, for its global efforts to fight disease, and the Natural Resources Defense Council, which is fighting problems like global warming and ocean pollution.
