Traffic Collision on South Coast Kills Elderly Man

Authorities are investigating a deadly crash on the South Coast that killed an elderly man.

Oxnard Police say an 80-year-old man was crossing Saviers Road at Hughes Drive around 6:30 Saturday morning when he was hit and knocked to the ground by a car traveling northbound on Saviers. The driver, a 22-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was not injured. Emergency crews arrived and rendered aid to the pedestrian. But, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision.
