Two Fallen South Coast Firefighters To Be Honored This Weekend

Firefights at past California Firefighters Memorial ceremony in Sacramento

The names of two fallen South Coast firefighters are being added to the state firefighters memorial in Sacramento this weekend.

Oxnard Fire Department Captain Scott Carroll and Santa Barbara firefighter Daniel John Corrigan both died last year. Carol had what officials said was a job related brain aneurysm, and Corrigan died from an undisclosed medical problem while at a fire station.

Hundreds of firefighters will take part in this weekend’s ceremony in Sacramento’s Capitol Park, with the names of 29 firefighters being added to the 1300 already on the memorial.

Officials with the non-profit California Fire Foundation say there was no time to add Ventura County firefighter Ryan Osler to this year’s ceremony. Osler died in a traffic accident last month while fighting Santa Barbara County’s Canyon brush fire.  The Foundation would like to honor him at next year's ceremony.
