Ventura County Woman Sentenced To Seven Years In Prison For Fradulent Investment Schemes

A Ventura County woman has been sentenced to more than seven years in state prison for stealing money from people who thought they were investing in real estate projects.

Ventura County prosecutors say Gregoria Mendoza of Oak View operated at least six separate schemes in Ventura, Los Angeles, and Tulare Counties, and stole close to a half million dollars.

They say she used the money intended for investments for her own personal expenses. The 61 year old woman entered guilty pleas to felony grand theft, and felony foreclosure consultant fraud charges. In addition to the seven year prison sentence, Mendoza was ordered to pay $470,000 in restitution to ten of her victims.
