Mayor Of South Coast City Resigns, Citing Health Issues

A longtime city official on the South Coast has resigned, citing health issues.

Port Hueneme Mayor Doug Breeze announced he is stepping down immediately from the City Council. Breeze has been on the council for eight years, and recently said he wouldn’t seek re-election this November. Breeze was in the Navy for more than a decade before going to work for various public agencies, including serving as Port Hueneme’s Public Works Director for a decade.

Details of his health issues weren’t released.

It’s been a difficult few years for the city council, with numerous clashes over the management of the city.
