Army Of Volunteers Preparing To Take On Community Projects During United Way Event This Weekend

An army of volunteers is gearing up for a day of goodwill on the South Coast this weekend.

The United Way of Santa Barbara County is holding its 25th Annual Day of Caring Saturday. It’s a chance for the community to help non-profits, schools, parks, and beaches with volunteers doing everything from painting, to landscaping.

Randy Weiss, with Union Bank, has been a Day of Caring Volunteer for more than two decades. He says this year’s projects include painting at Skater’s Park, and cleanup of some local beaches. Some 1400 volunteers are expected to take part during the event’s 25th anniversary in Santa Barbara County.

Meanwhile, in Ventura County United Way Annual Day of Caring efforts include a project by Cal State Channel Islands volunteers to paint the Camarillo Boys and Girls Club.
