Details Of College Shutdown In Ventura County Released

The news that the company which owns Brooks Institute in Ventura was going to permanently close down the campus because of financial issues broke a few weeks ago.

Now, a letter to Ventura County is detailing exactly how many jobs will be lost. As required by law when mass layoffs are planned, Brooks notified the county that 169 positions would be lost. They range from program chairs to adjunct instructors.

The company says the layoffs are expected to take place in two phases next month.

Brooks was a private college which focused on visual and media arts, and had an internationally known reputation for the quality of its programs.  Its shutdown was announced over the summer.
