Wrong Way Driver On Highway 101 Leads To Multiple Traffic Accident On South Coast

A wrong way driver on Highway 101 on the South Coast caused a six vehicle accident, but fortunately no one was seriously injured.

It happened just after 8 last night, on the 101 in downtown Santa Barbara. The CHP received multiple calls of a car headed northbound on the southbound lanes of the freeway. By the time officers reached the scene, multiple vehicles had been involved in an accident. Investigators say some motorists served to avoid the oncoming car, before the wrong way driver smashed head on into a car. Everyone escaped without serious injury.

CHP officers say the wrong way driver, identified as 22 year old Amanda Rose Valenzuela of Ojai, was arrested on a DUI charge after being taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
