Detectives say they are trying to figure out why a man intentionally burned up his motor home in Ventura, and why he had an explosive device in it.
Officers were called to the area of Citrus Drive, and Wells Road at around 6:30 last night by reports of a domestic disturbance. Officers say when they arrived, and they tried to question Michael Gaussiran about a woman he had been arguing with, he locked himself in the motor home. After about 15 minutes, they saw flames coming from the vehicle.
The 52 year old man left the motorhome, but refused to answer questions about the whereabouts of the woman, but claimed he’d set the fire to cover up a drug lab. A hazmat team was called out to help deal with the fire, and after it was put out, they determined there was no drug lab. But, they did find an explosive device which had to be removed by the Ventura County Bomb Squad. The woman had left the scene prior to the confrontation.
Gaussiran was arrested for possession of an explosive device, and for obstruction.
