Guns seized in Santa Maria

A Santa Barbara County man detectives are calling a black market weapons dealer is behind bars.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s investigators say a probation search on the 200 block of West Rochelle Avenue in Santa Maria last week led to the discovery of a discovery of a concealed handgun. They arrested Bobby Johnson on multiple weapons charges.

Then during the week, a small arsenal of weapons including two assault rifles were found at another Santa Maria home. The detectives say they identified Jesus Piceno as the weapons supplier. As they arrived back at the Rochelle Avenue home Wednesday to arrest him, he barricaded himself in a nearby apartment. He was arrested as he tried to escape on foot. Piceno was booked on ten charges ranging from being a felon in charge of a firearm to resisting a police officer.
