Warning Issued About Fire Inspection Scam In Santa Barbara County

There’s a warning about a fire inspection scam targeting businesses and residents in Santa Barbara County.

Santa Barbara County prosecutors say people in the county have been getting bogus invoices from a company called Red Mountain Security and Fire Protection, or RMS. The invoices are for inspections which never happened, but the paperwork demands $300-$400 in payment.

Investigators say a number of the bogus invoices have turned up in the county. They’re asking people who get them to contact the DA’s office.
