A South Coast city has now issued refunds for more than 800 tickets for a Fourth of July fireworks show which turned out to be a dud.
Camarillo had to cancel its show at Camarillo High School after the electronic launch control system failed at the last minute. The city said there was what it called a “catastrophic firing switch failure.” Because of safety concerns, the Ventura County Fire Department prohibits the hand triggering of fireworks, so the show had to be cancelled, sending thousands of people home disappointed.
The City is making refunds at City Hall, and so far, has issued 876 refunds, totaling more than $1700 dollars. The tickets were two dollars each. The city is seeking reimbursement from the company which was supposed to stage the show, Exposhows, Incorporated in Santa Monica.
