Oxnard Police Chief Selected As New Head Of Phoenix Police Department

Oxnard Police Chief Jeri Williams to become new Phoenix P.D. Chief

Oxnard’s Police Chief is going to become Phoenix’s next top law enforcement officer.

Phoenix officials today confirmed they’ve chosen Jeri Williams as the city’s next chief. Williams is no stranger to the Phoenix Department.

She spent 22 year with the law enforcement agency, rising to the rank of Assistant Chief before taking the job as Oxnard’s Chief in 2011. Her husband still lives in Phoenix, and her son, Alan Williams, plays with the Phoenix Suns pro basketball team. She will be the first female chief for the Arizona department.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton issued a statement saying that he could not be prouder having Williams as chief, noting that she earned the respect of the Department by doing everything from serving as a patrol officer to a commander.

Williams will be introduced as the new chief at a Phoenix news conference tomorrow, and is expected to join the department in October.
