After years of legwork, Cal State Channel Islands is adding an engineering program.
University President Richard Rush and Democratic Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin of Thousand Oaks are set to make the official announcement July 20th. The university conducted a survey which showed the need for the program in the county. Irwin pushed to get startup funding from Sacramento, and the state budget included a half million dollars this year to get the program rolling.
It’s one of the final big accomplishments for Rush, who is retiring next month after opening the campus and serving as its President for more than a decade.
Plans call for the new program to begin in the fall of 2018.
