Firefighters made substantial progress over the weekend towards containment of a wildfire burning in the Los Padres National Forest in Ventura County.

The Pine Fire is now 71% contained. It’s burned more than 2300 acres of land in the mountains about 11 miles northeast of Ojai. No homes have been destroyed in the sparsely populated area.

Nearly 500 people are involved in fighting the blaze, which started June 30th. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
