Former Ventura County Man Wanted For Double Murder Gets Extradited To U.S.

A former Ventura County man living in Mexico and wanted for the double murder of his estranged wife and her boyfriend more than 25 years ago is finally back in the U.S.

The FBI says 46-year-old Everardo Meza Alamillo, who was once a resident of Santa Paula, was extradited yesterday. He was arrested in Mexico in November of last year following a joint investigation by detectives with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, FBI agents and Mexican law enforcement officials.

Alamillo is accused of murdering his child’s mother, then 21-year-old Adriana Castanon Meza, and her then-22 year old boyfriend Armando Cauich in Santa Paula in 1993. Authorities determined that Alamillo fled to Mexico shortly after the double murder.

Ten months after the crime, Alamillo was indicted on two counts of murder by a grand jury in Ventura County and then charged in a federal criminal complaint.

The Santa Paula Police Department continues to investigate.
